Yangon, formerly called Rangoon, was the capital of Myanmar until it changed to Naypyidaw. Not only is Yangon the largest city in Myanmar, it has a lot of culture and heritage, and many historical stories tied up to its past.
1.Shwedagon Pagoda

The most sacred and beautiful golden Buddhist Stupa(Great Dagon Pagoda). Home to the Shwedagon Pagoda festival which happens annually in March, Yangon attracts pilgrims from all around. The Shwedagon Pagoda is more than a place of worship. It is a custodian for Myanmar art, history and architecture.
The exhibit, available to visitors depicts its biography. It is a tribute to those who built it, to the Buddhism principles it represents, and to the hopes it inspires.
2.Kandawgyi Lake

This is an artificial lake located right next to the famous Shwedagon Pagoda. The water from Inya Lake is pumped into this lake with pipes. Despite of being artificial, this lake is one of the two major lakes situated in Yangon, Myanmar.
3.Sule Pagoda

This is yet another mesmerising Pagoda in the country of pagodas. Additionally, this Burmese stupa is located in the heart of downtown Yangon, occupying the centre of the entire city. This pagoda is also considered an important space in contemporary Burmese politics, ideology and geography.
4.Inya Lake

This is the largest lake of Yangon, which also supplies water to the Kandawgyi Lake. It serves as a major destination in modern culture and is a romantic spot for young couples. Furthermore, the Inya Lake Park has also been featured in Burmese media such as movies, books etc. Activities like sailing and rowing are also available for the entertainment purposes of locals and tourists.
5.Hlawga National Park

Hlawga National Park is an open air wildlife space that preserves and cultivates both flora and fauna. It is a popular day trip destination among locals and tourists who love nature and exploring the wild. Adventure options such as hiking, safari-style rides are also available at this huge national park.
6.Kandawgyi Park

Situated on the banks of the Kandawgyi Lake, this park is a good place to relax and just soak in the scenery around. The picturesque views and the trails along this park are going to provide you with a calm and tranquil feeling. Walking over wooden walk boards amidst lush green foliage is a very refreshing feeling.
After a lot of political disturbances and problems, Yangon has come up to be one of the most frequently visited cities of Myanmar, and offers beautiful places for tourists to go to.
